Privacy Policy: How we use your information

Thank you very much for taking part in the study.

The Big Lottery Fund is providing this note to give you more information about how data collected for this research study will be used. The Big Lottery Fund has commissioned a team of researchers called the Warwick Consortium, led by the University of Warwick, to evaluate whether the services that are running for children and their families in these five selected areas are effective in improving children's life chances. Ipsos MORI is conducting the study for and behalf of the Big Lottery Fund and the University of Warwick.

The Big Lottery Fund controls how personal data collected for the survey will be used and who will have access to it. The Big Lottery Fund is also responsible for ensuring that all personal data collected is processed fairly and in compliance with the Data Protection Act. This privacy policy only applies to this research study, including the study website.

How will my information be used?
The information collected for this study will be used for the purposes of this research study. It will be analysed by academic experts in children’s development in their early years in order to produce research reports and anonymous research findings.  We would also like to link survey responses with your and your child’s health records. If you explicitly agree to this, we can assure you that we will not reveal any of the information you provide whilst participating in this research to your doctor. 

The information you provide including, if you agree, information from your health records that is linked to it will be stored in separate files from the personal information used to invite you to participate in this research. At the end of the study, all the study data will be anonymised by deleting all personal information that could identify you, your child or your household.  We can assure you that your name or other identifying personal details will not be quoted in any research findings and no research report will ever identify you or your family.

If you contact the study team, we may also use your information that is necessary to help us respond to your request or complaint.

The information collected during this study may also be used to identify helpful information our interviewers can provide based on your answers to questions about your health.

Who will have access to my information?
Access to your information will be restricted to only those Big Lottery Fund and Ipsos staff necessary to carry out this research and those researchers directly involved in analysing he research data.

How will you keep the information you collect about me?
At the end of the research study, all the study data will be anonymised by deleting all personal information that could identify you, your child or your household. The anonymous research data that remains will be kept permanently.

Thank you very much for taking part in this survey. How will you ensure my information is held securely?
We take very seriously our responsibilities to keep your personal information secure.  As such we take every reasonable precaution to ensure your information is protected from loss, theft or misuse.  These precautions include appropriate physical security of our offices, controlled access to computer systems, and use of secure, encrypted internet connections when collecting personal information.

As part of Ipsos MORI’s commitment to the security of the information it processes for and on behalf of the Big Lottery Fund, Ipsos MORI has regular internal and external audits of its information security, and is certified to the International Standard for Information Security, ISO 27001.

Does this website collect any information about me?
No.  This website can be accessed by anyone and it does not collect any personal information about visitors to the site.

How can I obtain a copy of my information or raise a concern about how my information may be being used?
The Big Lottery Fund can provide a copy of your personal information that may be held for this research on request at any time before the results are anonymised.  You also have the right to request further information or raise a concern about this study’s compliance with data protection laws.  For further details, please contact Ipsos MORI’s Compliance Department who will assist you on behalf of the Big Lottery Fund.  They can be contacted by email sent to  compliance@ipsos-mori.com with “You and Your Child Study” as the subject line.
