More information about the Baseline survey

In the first part of the study we will be speaking to parents and their children to understand what local service provision is like for children and families before the investment from the Big Lottery Fund starts. This is called a baseline survey and will take place in 2016. This part of the study involves just one survey with parents.

What does taking part in the study involve?

This part of the You and Your Child study involves interviewing parents who have a child aged 1, 2 or 3 years of age.

We would like to carry out one interview with you. This will be a face-to-face interview, lasting around 60-75 minutes, where an Ipsos MORI interviewer comes to your home and asks you questions about:

At the interview we would like to ask your live-in partner or spouse (if you have one) to fill in a short questionnaire about their health and wellbeing and their involvement with your child. We will only ask them if you are happy for us to do so. If they are present at the time they can hand it to the interviewer once finished, otherwise they can post it to us using the pre-paid envelope left behind.

With your permission, we would like to record your child’s height and weight. If your child is aged 3, we would also like your child to do some games and puzzles. These are designed to provide us with information about their verbal and problem solving ability.

Thanking you for your participation
